Second Boil of 2016 - February 27

I had another successful day boiling down 1 gallon of syrup. It was a cold morning, and with only about 50 gallons to boil, I started a bit later. Mindy, Eric, Mike, and Ray all stopped by for a bit to lend a hand and some encouragement. A big thanks to Brad for dropping off some well seasoned wood that burned hot and quick.
Markus showed up for the later shift and kept me company as we enjoyed the clear day and some dark beer. Nothing much else to report and no pictures were taken, but after finishing up I enjoyed a maple-based cocktail, the Maple Kiss:
Maple Kiss
- 2 1/2 oz Rye Whiskey
- 3/4 oz Chambord
- 1/4 oz pure maple syrup
Combine the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with several ice cubes. Shake well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Add a fresh raspberry as garnish.
